Fighting for women's rights to inheritance in Afghanistan

In Afghanistan, although women are entitled in law to inherit land and property, many are still deprived of their rights.

We are looking into every legal journal under Islamic law on women’s rights to inheritance and sharing our findings with the Women and Children Legal Research Foundation, an NGO in Afghanistan.

Our findings are being used to train community mobilisers on how to divide inheritance amongst the family and address issues concerning women’s rights to their share.

These mobilisers are going on to train 300 other community leaders in two provinces of Afghanistan to raise legal awareness, half of who are women.
