Mapping Support Systems and Building an Alliance for Women in Public Office in the SWANA Region
Mapping Laws to Protect Women in Public Office from Online and Offline Violence
In partnership with the Apolitical Foundation, a non-profit organisation in Berlin, SAHR is mapping the existing ecosystems of support for women in public office in the SWANA region (Southwest Asia and North Africa) and identifying women in public office to be part of an Alliance. By mapping relevant stakeholders, organizations, and networks aligned with women’s representation in politics, we aim to identify the most pressing topics and needs in the region, address critical issues like violence against women in public office, and, create opportunities for collaboration and support.
We are also conducting global research on laws and instruments aimed at protecting women political leaders from online and offline violence and all forms of gender discrimination. This initiative will culminate in the creation of a comprehensive global database, providing a valuable resource to inform advocacy, policy reform, and efforts to ensure safer and more equitable participation for women in political leadership worldwide.
