Natasha Latiff

Founder & Co-Director

Singapore

Natasha Latiff is an international human rights lawyer. She is also the Co-Founder and Legal Director of SAHR's sister organisation in Afghanistan. Over the last decade, Natasha has supported women human rights defenders and women lawyers to represent women victims of abuse, rape, torture and murder. She has also drafted laws and policies around virginity testing, protection of victims and witnesses and sex harassment.

Sara Bergamaschi

Co-Director

Berlin, Germany

Sara is a gender expert. Her talents are in impact filmmaking; in recent years she has produced three award-winning documentaries covering powerful journeys and accounts of Syrian refugees. Prior to SAHR, Sara worked for Italian Embassy in Egypt, the German Development Agency in Morocco, the International Rescue Committee in Iraq and the UN in New York, Jordan, Yemen and at Turkish-Syrian border.

Catalina Domínguez Fernández

Legal Officer

Catalina is a Berlin-based feminist lawyer from Colombia with over seven years of experience in addressing gender issues,  extensive technical knowledge in protection, prevention, and human rights, as well as advocacy work with local, regional, and international authorities and diverse stakeholders. Combining her expertise in human rights, public administration, and criminology, Catalina has analyzed existing normative frameworks and supported the development and implementation of public policies.

Romana Bruderer-Schwab

As the newest member of the SAHR Board of Advisors, Romana brings a wealth of experience and passion to the table. A lawyer by training and a proud global citizen, Romana has dedicated her career to championing the rights, autonomy, and inclusion of women and people from other underrepresented groups around the world. Her commitment to this cause is evident through her casework—exposing abuses occurring within one of the world's largest immigration detention facilities—and her research on GBV and SRHR, informing policymaking at the national and multilateral levels. Recognizing the pivotal role the private sector can play in this space, Romana has spent the better part of the last decade working with businesses to drive corporate social impact and advance human rights worldwide.

Calissa Grady

Advocacy Intern

As SAHR’s Advocacy Intern, Calissa contributes to reports, briefs, and blog posts and supports SAHR’s communications. Having focused on human rights, atrocity investigation, and international law during her undergraduate education, she is passionate about leveraging creative legal strategies to uplift survivors of violence. She graduated magna cum laude from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. with a B.A. in Government and Philosophy.

Bianca Lavinia Liclican

Lavinia is a Development Coordinator for Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Business in the University of Sydney’s Advancement Portfolio. She is a graduate of the Dual Bachelor of Arts Degree Program between IEP Paris (Sciences Po) in Menton and the University of Sydney with majors in Political Humanities, International Relations, and Visual Arts.

She has used her passion for interdisciplinary art and collaborative creative activism throughout her involvement in organisations and initiatives tackling issues regarding womxn’s rights, human rights, cultural heritage rights, ocean and marine life conservation, disabilities, mental health, and student wellbeing, across Europe and the Asia-Pacific.

Maria Karimzad (Afghanistan / Germany)

Since 2021, she lectures on law at the German University for Applied Sciences, Public Administration and Finance Ludwigsburg.

Prior to her work in the German government, she worked at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Law in Heidelberg on legal matters concerning Afghanistan as well as international human rights and humanitarian law.

From 2014 until 2019 she served as a legal advisor at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan as well as the Ministry of Finance of Afghanistan in Kabul, both in her capacity as a consultant for the German Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and the World Bank.

Hadiza Abba (Nigeria)

SAHR Gender Justice Fellow 2021/2022

Hadiza is a SAHR Justice Fellow. She is a human rights defender based in Abuja, originally from Borno, North-East Nigeria. After her legal studies, she worked as a UN Volunteer mobilizing local actors & the Nigerian government towards the implementation of the 2030 agenda on sustainable development. Since then she has been working with UNODC, increasing the capacity of local prosecutors, judges & civil society organizations.

"With SAHR's support, I developed strategic partnerships with NGOs and worked towards recognizing former wives of Boko Haram as victims of the war."

Irna Susrianti (Indonesia)

SAHR Gender Justice Fellow 2021/2022

Irna is a human rights defender from Aceh province of Indonesia. She works as the General Manager of a social enterprise that seeks to bring sustainability to coconut farming in Aceh. She also supports the work of the Communication Forum of Special Needs Community (CFSNC) and the Young Women Unit (YWU) organization working to protect the rights of women and disabled people in Aceh.

Nabeeha Siddiqui (Pakistan)

SAHR Gender Justice Fellow 2021/2022

Nabeeha Siddiqui is a civil and commercial litigator from Pakistan with a passion for human rights law. She was a Gender Justice Fellow and focused on raising her voice against sexual harassment in higher education institutions and pushing for a more robust sexual harassment policy. 

She has also assisted multiple women and LGBTQ+ individuals in Pakistan with sexual assault cases, domestic violence cases and custody issues and continues to raise her voice to promote women’s rights. 

"The fact that really set this fellowship and organization apart was that they were able to provide a community of like-minded individuals who were pursuing similar projects and had similar passions for promoting justice. The support I received was not only technical but also provided me with perspectives that allowed the project to grow and evolve into something that was effective for the survivors as well as the members of the sexual harassment complaints committee at my former university."

Nadia Moynihan (Singapore)

Nadia Moynihan is a lawyer who maintains a practice with August Law Corporation in Singapore and Branch Austin McCormick in London. Her practice focuses primarily on litigation and she regularly represents companies and individuals in a wide range of sectors.

In the workplace context, Nadia regularly provides training to companies on how to address harassment at the workplace, from early identification to implementing fair and robust employment policies to combat it.

She works with clients, including clients from the LGBTQ community, who require protection from former partners or strangers in cases of online and offline stalking, doxing, revenge porn, harassment, death threats and assaults.

Jimena Gibertoni (Argentina)

Jimena is a SAHR Gender Justice Fellow. She works as an independent lawyer in Buenos Aires primarily litigating cases of gender-based violence, particularly cases of violence against members of the LGBTQIA+ community. Driven by a strong desire to modify established harmful norms & practices, she co-founded the Red de Abogadas Feministas (Feminist Lawyers Network) in order to bring justice to survivors of SGBV & gender-discrimination.

"Without SAHR fellowship, we would not have been able to push for accountability in a strategic case of institutional sexual harassment case. This case is our opportunity to bring about systemic change in Argentina."

Yasmine Bjornum (Vanuatu)

Yasmine was SAHR's first Gender Justice Fellow. She is a woman human rights defender. She founded SISTA to create a space for Ni-Vanuatu women to connect, share and uplift each other.  

"The SAHR team guided me to collect evidence and provide input into legal arguments while developing my legal skills.

Thanks to their incredible team, I finally was able to execute an intervention that was rooted in a survivor centered approach. I would not have the confidence or ability or will to do so, if I hadn't met the team at SAHR.

Libertad and Pacha (Mexico)

SAHR Gender Justice Fellows 2021/2022

Libertad & Pacha are LGBTQIA+ human rights defenders from Mexico City. They have been working at La Gozadera, a feminist cultural center, for the last five years. Through their work, they are helping the LGBTQIA+ community to overcome the discrimination through building a network of support for their LGBTQIA+ community. Of note, they worked to increase right and access to healthcare amongst lesbian women inmates in Tepepan Prison in Mexico.

“Under the 2021/2022 SAHR fellowship, we were able to run workshops and engage with Lesbian inmates to understand their sexual and reproductive rights violations. We were also able to develop a relationship with Tepepan prison staff and create allyship."

Maria works for the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH), as Head of Geneva office and UN Representative. In her current capacity, she advises human rights defenders from all regions, regarding different international advocacy initiatives.

Marissa Kardon Weber

SAHR Board Secretary

Marissa is an international criminal and human rights lawyer. She works on strategic litigation against abusive governments and other actors on behalf of survivors, including dissidents, political prisoners, and communities. She also advises NGOs addressing atrocity crimes. Marissa has worked on rule-of-law initiatives relating to conflicts in Iraq/Syria, Ukraine/Russia, Libya, Iran, Afghanistan, Myanmar/Bangladesh, and Seychelles, and previously worked in the ICC's Office of the Prosecutor. She zealously seeks justice and healing through victim-centered and trauma-informed practices.
